Women who are 'ReigningIt'
Have you ever heard about ReigningIt?
No? Well, let us introduce you to Angela Cleveland and Saqi Mehta, the co-founders of the platform ReigningIt. Together, they seek to combine their expertise and experience in education and technology and most importantly, their passion for supporting women, in order to increase the diversity in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
They refer to their platform ReigningIt as an “inclusive, caring community of support for women in STEM”, through which they seek to build a strong, empowered network of mentorship and a support system to “reign” one's life. The blog features interviews with “women who reign”, i.e. influential women working in STEM, as well as K-12 educators who are technology and computer science evangelists. The blog also provides for a list of interesting events and resources such as podcasts, videos or scholarships. What is more, ReigningIt offers roundtable discussions, workshops, mentorship networks etc. that facilitate an environment allowing for continuous personal growth.
Since its launch in October 2015, the network has featured nearly 500 inspiring women in STEM who share challenges they faced throughout their career and outline opportunities they see in STEM. By celebrating the successes of different women in the field, a dialogue about possibilities in STEM shall be triggered, inspiring young women to delve into STEM.
Ultimately, ReigningIt is about finding out what problems you want to solve, how technology can enhance our world and bring women a fulfilling and interesting career.
